IT’S TIME TO REFLECT.

IT’S TIME TO REFLECT.

Have I ever seen anything worse than a selfish leader? Is there something worth probing than a greedy representative? Could that be the cause of our unsolved woes?

Over the centuries, scholars have contextually and situationally defined leadership. We have read and sought for knowledge on who leaders should be yet, our today sees nothing but the mistakes of our yesterday. But how beautiful these mistakes were as at yesterday, when we began the harmonics of freedom and justice. Now, I will tell you what, did you know that those who began the biggest battle against oppression, colonialism, segregation and racism knew best what they had dreamed of; a nation and a continent free of racial discrimination, free of slavery of any kind, one people ready to stand against all odds to make themselves better. The least said about Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Patrice Emily Lumumba, Nelson Mandela, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, Nnamdi Azikiwe, among other leaders of Africa; whose utmost priority was to develop and unite us a people. Friends, it’s time to reflect.
These were individuals who risked their reputations, career, lives and the comfort of their families to reach out to the greatest, young emerging Africa. They did not only seek for that which would make their present days Africa great but the future; oh the future! Was their worries.
I must be quick to say that these fighters believed in us again as a people to protect and preserve that which they had toiled for. They trusted that Africa today will be the home of all goodies and greatness because they knew they had begun the race well, and so the pace had been set. Again, it’s time to reflect.

History they say, is the window to our future, and I strongly believe that the moment we lose sight of our true identity, we cease to exist as a people. We then belong nowhere, and hold virtually nothing. Oh I have been told countless times the toils and risks some people took to get us here. Only some years later have we come across leaders who now are self- centered other than other minded. Only few years later have we seen leaders who are even bold to scoop from where they never sowed. I have seen today, leaders who are ready to risk the peace and order of an entire nation to their own benefits. Oh! Corruption, they call it! Have we not lost our pride and identity? Where is that Africa which was united to fight “masters of oppression”? That Africa which yearned for freedom even when they saw their brothers die in the attempt to be free”. It’s time to reflect.

And for the future of our young people, the very upcoming leaders of our tomorrow, those who will take “the course of ages” up, there is the need to reflect. And make the changes now! And turn the tables around before we soul up to meet our fathers who set the pace. Otherwise, we lose our pride, vision and the common dream of a better continent. And so, corruption must cease, xenophobia must end, waging wars with ourselves is pointless.

Let’s arise and look back before we lose it all. Let’s uphold the spirit of true communalism, and change the status quo before we exit. Today, the battle is against the ills of our continent, right from the leadership to the very least of us. This is the right course and that which is honorable to heal ourselves within and stand up for a perfect picture right in the presence of the “onlookers”. My task, your task!
Now let’s reflect and tread the right paths to greatness. Join the trip to a better Ghana and a better Africa! It’s Time To Reflect!

                                 Thank you
