I am a young radical change maker. When it comes to impacting lives and creating the change I want to see, I do it with immediacy and courage. I started impacting lives very early in life when in my primary classes, I led the reading of our Gateway English textbooks immediately our teacher stepped out. I have lived that young girl from childhood all these years.
I have led on different platforms and groups; from academics to social and religious. Leading my colleagues though difficult for others, I always find it rather interesting and transforming. I love to share and discuss what every team member wants to say, but I ensure that we make progress at the end of the day by settling on one.
In my various leadership positions as president of the Camfed beneficiaries in my senior high school, to the vice president of my denomination in my senior high and tertiary, to the Baobab advocate for the MCF scholars in my university, to the many leadership positions I have held; I did all those with courage, resilience, team spirit, honesty and creativity. I have had to initiate very new projects as a leader across different platforms.
I believe in collaboration. I believe is strength in coming together with our individual opinions and ideas. Teamwork is always something I will choose, because it brings the best out of every group work or assignment.
I love originality. I know something that there are very different ways of reaching the desired results; why then don't we move outside of the obvious but with the goal in mind, build something new to serve the desired results? My love for novelty and creativity transcends my answers to questions and even my dressing.
Honesty in leadership cannot be traded for anything, it stands on its own. I love to be told the truth; be told just how good or bad it is. I am someone who always wants to say it as it is and be frank with the people I am dealing with. In a group, I am always clear about what needs to be done and the actual situation.
I am passionate about protecting the rights of children. I have defended the rights of children in diverse ways by always making sure that I sign the Child rights and safeguarding policies whenever I embark on any project that deals with children. I insist that all the other team members do same. My passion to protect the rights of children has greatly influenced my decision to read law for my Masters program and major as a child rights advocate. I think child abuse, early marriage, child labor and trafficking must be discarded in the 21st century.
I hope for nothing but a world with genuine people standing up for the right things and impacting lives positively.
