A YOUNG WORLD - Capturing Young People's Voice

We identify with strength, creativity, courage, action and vibrance – we are young people.
The very things we possess, stand for and ask for as young people, are common across the globe.
Representing the voices of young people whenever and wherever I get to, is a course I pursue with an unmatched passion and enthusiasm; because I know and understand what we share together as young people.
Our world now has the largest generation of young people in history. A quarter of the world’s population today are under 25- that is only an aspect of the actual population of young people in the world.  Young people are leading transfromational activities in their communities, countries and the world at large has felt the unparalleled force of young people solving societal problems with such great creativity.

It is very essential for institutions, movements and governments to ensure have safe, effective and meaningful engagements in all spheres, making sure that young people realize their full potentials. Engaging young people in decision making and conversations is a great way to have their voices represented at the very ideation stage. Young people must be represented at every meeting/ gathering/rank in every society so that the voice of the youths is woven into the decisions made. Young people must be talked with and not talked about.

Also, engaging young people in the whole design and implementation of programs is another way to gain the full participation of young people. If it is for us, we must consent to it. And the one who said this was perfectly right; “nothing for us, without us”. This is not only a way to make young people inclusive but this is also to say that we respect the rights young people have to their own lives and futures.

Establishing youth-led innovative programs and interventions is also another way to see to it that young people are given audience and space to be better. Programs and interventions which would be keenly interested in building the overall capacities of young people. Programs which will not only be geared solely towards achieving intended organizational/institutional goals but ones that will make sure that they have the development of young people at heart alongside engaging the services of young people.

Finally, young people are a great asset to every society. Young people are themselves a powerhouse of human resource that must be well developed and utilized with the provision of other resources. Availability of capital and natural resources for young people is a spring board to make sure that young people have what they need to for their startups and problem solving. Educational institutions should equally be skills oriented as they make acquisition of knowledge a priority. Support systems such as financial, legal, educational, among others are strong means to ensure that young people are developed and prepared to make their communities, countries and the world at large better.

To young people across the globe; you are those the world, your countries and communities await to correct the mistakes, design novel ways to improve live and to lead change. You are strength and hope of your our world. The world believes in your potentials to make it a better place. Decide to be the genius you are, make the world's agenda yours. Take up this special responsibility to stand for what is right, strive for positive change and solve the problems - you are those we are waiting for. Speak and act to correct the destructive hand of global warming, climate destruction, deforestation, aquatic destruction, stand against human rights abuse of any kind. It's our time to correct the wrongs and change the ills, it's time.

Great applauds to organizations who are interested in the development of young people across the globe through a meaningful engagement such as MasterCard Foundation, Camfed, Restless Development, among others. I will love to be a part of this great program as a representative of the millions of young people and to make sure that young people are well represented by voicing out what we stand for as young people. I have got a voice and this voice is that of young people globally, telling the world that we can create the change we want to see.
