WOMEN
EMPOWERMENT.
Throughout the ages, the question of who is superior to who; whenever gender is mentioned, has been inherent in every human discourse. This question has often gone avoidably unanswered because the domineering team feels that is its unchallenged right to control our societies. But I see the need to pause and ponder; what is it we ask for as women? It is this alone we seek, to be given equal chances to life, to live in dignity, live our dreams and be free from any kind of oppressions whatsoever. This is course calls for no struggle for power to undermine anyone, neither is it a gender warfare as the mention of women empowerment seems to some. It is simply a peaceful agreement to be given the very essentials we need to develop our potentials and aspirations, which we have been woefully denied. And so we still sound the cry to be empowered and to defend our own worth as members of society. But to who do we cry? It is certainly to all; to societies, to law makers, to decision makers and to men; our very own companions to greatness. We ask for nothing unmerited, nothing undeserved but opportunities to also benefit from resources, fruits of our labors and our own God-given potentials.
We indeed ask for no gender war, no empowerment to
undermine any class and no chance to achieve selfish gains. Empowerment we
seek, equality we solemnly ask for.
